Calling All REVOLUTIONARIES all across Malaysia - let's gather in June 2011!!

There are over 300 Revolution groups - Recess & Campus Revo combined. Imagine if each had an average of 10 students, we would be a 3,000 strong student movement that, if mobilised, can meet any need in Malaysia & bring radical & lasting change - eg ending poverty. I wonder if we're bold enough to experiment - a national transformation project - together in 2011?!

I'm suggesting a national gathering of Revolutionaries in KL next year - say between June 2nd to 4th - & would like your help to invite as many of your friends as possible to join us. Together we'll praise & pray... & pursue an "impossible" cause together with God's power. Revolution is a movement of generosity & force for good - a youth power that can change Malaysia

Revolution: Changing our nation one school at a time, and our schools one student at a time...with the love of God - through the people that have been changed by His love. Students coming together to love their schools. Schools coming together to love their communities. Communities coming together to love their cities. Cities coming together to love their countries...the world!

Imagine the young people in Malaysia coming together to love Japan...and helping to drastically bring down the suicide rate there... The list can go on and on as the emerging church in Malaysia reaches out - first in focused prayer, followed by faithful & obedient actions of love & sacrifice...

If we can truly come together for Malaysia in 2011, then maybe by 2013, we can take on the world together - and by 2020, whether or not we would have become a nation that's developed, we would at least have become a nation that's made the difference...

With God all things are possible! Have we truly lived out this truth in our lifetime?! Every generation...in every nation... has the equal opportunity to. Let's not just wish...but work towards it. Let's at least try. I believe that we will one day fill stadiums with individuals who truly believe...and have the boldness to really make their one life count on earth for eternity!

Compassion is Bowel Movement?

Trust that most of us are familiar with the experience of, if not the term, "bowel movement." I remember several times in my life when I just "had to go" because the "movement" was getting unbearable. And there have been several times when I couldn't get to the "throne" in time, and what resulted was:

1. designs all over the floor

2. throwing away of undies

3. other disgusting imagery

Whatever your experience, we can all agree that when the bowel "moves," we just have to go, or just gotta do something about it!

Interestingly enough, the Greek word for "COMPASSION" in the Bible is "Splagchnizomai." Here's what it means:-

Strong's Number: 4697

“Splagchnizomai”

to be moved as to one's bowels, hence to be moved with compassion, have compassion

(for the bowels were thought to be the seat of love and pity)

I have come to learn that true compassion (not just sympathy or pity or anything like that), will cause you to do something about it.

"Compassion will move you to action."

This was (and still is) true in the life of Jesus. All throughout scripture, we see that every time Jesus (or even others in the Bible) was moved with compassion, He did something about it:-

Matthew 14:14 (NIV)

When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

Matthew 9:36-38 (NIV)

36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."

Matthew 20:34 (NIV)

Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.

Matthew 18:27 (NKJV)

Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt.

Matthew 15:32 (NIV)

Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way."

Mark 1:41 (NKJV)

Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, "I am willing; be cleansed."

Luke 15:20 (NIV)

So he got up and went to his father. "But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

May we learn to pray,

"God move our hearts with what move yours. Break our hearts with what breaks yours. Excite our heart with what excites yours!"

and may we live as we have prayed. Let's learn to have compassion in and on our world, so that we will be moved to do something about it - and make our world a better place, by introducing and leading the world to Christ - our ultimate Answer and Fulfillment!

This particular Sunday sermon…’Dear Lord,’ the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. ‘Without you, we are but dust…’ He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four year old girl voice, ‘Mom, what is butt dust?’

You Are What You Think

To discipline your life, discipline your mind. I've heard it said before: "The mind is like a parachute - it works best when it's open." But what keeps the parachute up? What kind of "wind" (i.e. thoughts)?

We need to fill our 'open mind' with thoughts that builds us up, not bring us down.

Don't think you're too good for everyone, neither should you think you're no good for anyone.

Your mind is a powerful thing. It can invent machine guns as well as medical cure. Your thoughts can either make you a killer or a healer.Discipline your mind, or it'll "discipline" you. You become what you think.

Time & Someone You Care About

Did my Run/Walk this morn! Met the same security guard I see everyday, who asks me "What time is it?" every time. But today, he didn't. Today, he was with a lady ;) Oooo yeah ;)

I guess when you're with someone you really care about, you don't care much about the time. You might even wish that time would stop just for the both of you ;)

I think that church services should kinda be like that too... Where we're not so bothered about the time, but more about the One we're with.

No, I don't mean we should have longer services necessarily; but that we aren't overly-conscious abt time, planning lunch & traveling the world in our minds, while spiritual food is being offered. Instead, enjoy & bask in the presence of the One who loves us unconditionally, so much so He would step out of eternity & infinity, and stepped into time & space, walked among us & made a way for us to be together forever! Spending time with Jesus - best thing ever!

Joy and Pain

Many years ago, I told a brick wall that I envied it because it couldn't feel pain, disappointment, sadness, etc. Then, I could almost hear the wall speak back (I now know it was actually the Holy Spirit speaking within me). It "said" it envied me because it can neither feel love, joy, happiness, etc.! *slap* Nice smack I got there!

Joy and Pain can, and in fact made to, co-exist. Without one, we can't fully understand or appreciate the other. And while we need not necessarily give thanks FOR everything, we can give thanks IN everything! (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

You don't need to fall off the same cliff

When I'm given the opportunity to preach God's Word, I do it the best I can & I try to keep it real: sharing my own life experiences, etc. But I am baffled. Some ppl tend to hear what THEY want to hear. Sometimes they chew the bones & spit out the meat, instead of the opposite!

Sometimes I bring my 'dirty linen' out when I preach, bcoz God has called me to be real with my messages. But how many times must we be reminded that 'u don't have to be a drug addict to know it's destructive' or 'u don't have to be killed to know what it's like to die.'

If I mistakenly fell off a cliff & survived the fall to tell the story... it's not so that ppl who hear me can go & fall off a cliff too! It's, hopefully, so that no one else needs to fall off the same cliff. We should not assume. Not everyone who falls survives. And not everyone who survives is called to tell the story.

So when the story is told, learn the lesson (as best as you can), because it's not necessary for everyone to "be" the lesson. It's no wonder Jesus said in Revelations 2:7 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says..." Don't just hear what was spoken. Hear what was said. Don't need to fall off the same cliff.

Maximizing Life

Wasn't thinking properly earlier: accidentally locked my car w/ key IN it! Borrowed a friend's car, drove all the way home for spare key. The ordeal 'wasted' 1.5 hours of my precious time & I missed most of the CF in Seksyen 4! Sometimes, we make silly mistakes in life, cuz we weren't thinking properly, & it costs us precious time undoing our wrongs or settings things straight - when we could be maximing & enjoying life to the full - the kinda life Jesus intends for us to have!

Lesson of the Day: slow down, think - and more importantly, pray - before you act! Every choice & decision has consequences - good or bad!

Shadow or Substance

After weeks of freshly brewed 'branded' coffee, I resorted back to 3-in-1 instant coffee. Not nearly as good as the freshly brewed, but I'm gonna just 'live with it.' Some Christians, after having tasted the wonder of Grace, find themselves resorting back to old lifestyle & mindset - and sometimes even willing to settle with 'living with it!' Let's learn to walk in the Spirit, now that we're no longer bound by the flesh & learn to live, thrive, & enjoy life in the fullness, wonder, & power of God's grace thru Jesus!

Don't sweat the old stuff. Live not in the 'shadow' of the Old but in the 'substance' of the New: where the substance is of Christ. (Colossians 2:17 - which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.)

Changing the nation, one school at a time...

It's been a while since I've written here. It's time I break the silence. The reason I haven't been able to update this blog is because I've been busy. I've been busy and I'm not complaining! One of the most exciting things in my ministry journey has taken off, and I haven't stopped sowing, investing, building, growing it since!

I'm talking about RECESS REVOLUTION! And boy, am I fired up by what God is doing in the schools through Recess Revo and the students who are a part of it! So many amazing testimonies have been recorded and more are pouring in each day! This "movement" is spreading like wildfire across Malaysia. So far... Selangor, KL, Penang, Kuantan, and Kota Kinabalu have caught on to the vision, and schools are being impacted each week/day. Just head on to the Recess Revo stories page, and you'll know what I mean! Teachers are being touched by the love of God (through acts of kindness by Christian students) - till they cry, Security Guards and students are getting saved, School gates are being repainted - just because the students WANT to do it, meals are being bought by Christian students for others - just to bless... and so much more! I believe if we keep going - we will really see a very different Malaysia, a better Malaysia - starting from the School level, and because ofthe difference (Christian) students are making in their schools!

I believe our nation CAN be changed, and won for the Lord. Any more believers out there!? Can I get a witness!?

Jesus didn't die...

5. Jesus didn’t die just so I can wait to go to Heaven

6. Jesus didn’t die so I could live ‘just enough’

I am not ashamed to admit... that I am pretty proud of the teens in my church whom I have the privilege to pastor. I am continuously inspired beyond words by their life and simplicity of faith. Seeing them grow and fulfilling their potential (or at least heading that direction) is the greatest fulfillment I can ever experience.

Mad, Mad March!

March '09 was an extremely packed month, but it sure was exciting!

Near the beginning of the month was my birthday! I now have new 1st digit in my double digit age. My Stamina feels older, but my Spirit feels like it'd be "forever young!" (Oh, just a side note.... I share my birthdate with 2 other great men: Pr. Alex Tan and Joshua Chu. Tribute to the Mighty March Men!)

Then there was my mission trip to Palawan, Philippines to spend time with our partner church: ACTS Family Church Palawan. It was my very first time in the Philippines!!! The church has an incredible and unique ministry there reaching out to street gangs. Pr. Bobot and his family is doing such an amazing job - it's stuff you really have to see for yourself to understand the full extent of it. I had to speak at their evening service where many of the former gangsters (and current gangsters) attend. It was quite an experience! At the end, the Holy Spirit moved...the altar call was packed... they hit record numbers... and it was simply amazing!

See that? "G.A.N.G.S 4 GOD" Pretty cool, huh?

After Philippines, came the kicking-off our this year's Revo Tours! Started with Miri, and then KK. Fantastic time in both stops. We saw over 1400 young people attending the night rally, or P.A.R.T.Y as we affectionately call it (stands for Preaching/Praying About Revival Through Youth). The altar calls were also packed and we saw many new souls added into God's kingdom!

Finally, the ACTS Teens Street Party topped off the month!! I saw our 40-odd teens in ACTS bring 130 new teens to church! Out of that number 10 received Jesus into their hearts as Lord and Savior! Incredible! I am so encouraged by the team who put the event together. I am so, so, so proud to be their (youth) Pastor! It is truly the greatest "job" in the world for me! Wouldn't trade it for anything else! They have all made me very proud, encouraged, and inspired!

I know it wasn't always easy. I understand the pressure they might have been under. I know there might even be times where they didn't think it would be successful or what they did made a difference or not. But they did it, and the Holy Spirit came through, despite our limitations (and even mistakes)!

The point isn't even the Party itself. I believe that through this experience they have all learnt much, and have grown much too. They've grown both in knowledge, and also in character! That's what I'm rejoicing over all the more! That they have all proved once again that God uses young people, and young people can go great exploits for God! And when a young person believes in her/himself as God believes in them... the sky's the limit!

They have also learned the power of prayer and relying more on the Holy Spirit. I believe our prayer life (individually and corporately) will never be the same again!

This is, of course, not the end. There's much more to learn. Much room to improve and grow - as a ministry and as individuals. There's greater things to come. So it's important keep pressing forward, and keep growing and winning for the Lord!

I had yet another awesome privilege to spend time and speak to a bunch of precious teenagers! This time it was at WHY Youth Camp, organized by Fettes Park Baptist Church and Hillside Baptist Church. The camp was held at Chefoo Methodist Centre, Cameron Highlands.

Pr. Amos Eng - camp organizer - was pretty amazing. He's like a "game machine!" He had like games & songs up his sleeves and he pulls them out at will, anytime, anywhere! Pretty cool! Here's a tribute to The Man....

The teens were a great bunch. They were responsive. They laughed at my jokes (haha)! And they were hungry for God's word!

I did a session on "Why Wait?" Basically talking about abstinence from pre-marital sex. Yes, I talked about sex to a bunch of wide-eyed teenagers. But don't be fooled. It's amazing what 11 & 12 year olds know nowaday! Wikipedia the Cikgu!

Was in the studio the other night, listening to the mixes for my band's (Altered Frequency) long-awaited album. Actually, we're not sure if people are waiting anymore. Haha! The production has taken over 3 years now, but we're glad we're finally, actually, going to wrap up the production of the album. It's called Transit, and I guess we couldn't have had a more appropriate title. Somehow, it was as if we knew (then) that we would be in a "transit" phase. We just didn't know it would be this long.

"Good things come to those who wait."

We pray it would be the case for this album.

Personally, it has taught me the art (and the principle) of waiting. My lovely wife is a classic, and probably greatest, example I can think of right now. I could tell you the whole story... but I won't. Not now anyways :)

She's not just a "good thing," she's a God-thing! I guess that's where I am right now, again. Waiting for the next God-thing. I taught my teens in church that God desires to "show up and show off" in our lives. The problem is, we want Him to do it NOW, but He wants to do it ... when He wants to do it. Let's not argue with Him. He's ALWAYS right, and always RIGHT ON TIME.

So here I am.. in Transit. God always has something in store for us. We just need to trust and obey... To wait in the terminal - even when it seems like everyone else has gone on ahead of us, and we seem to be the only one left waiting. His plane WILL come, and it WILL take us where we need to go. And when it comes, don't miss it.

Back to Altered Frequency's 2nd album, Transit... don't miss it either. Get the original. You can burn the CD, but you can't burn the stuff in the packaging - literally and figuratively :)

The last several months have been quite eventful.

One of the most wonderful things in my life was that I got married to my best friend and the best lady in the world - Jay Loh - on Sep 15, 2007. I've been married now for 4 months and 17 days today.

Some of the things I've learned in marriage so far...
1. Giving is better than receiving
2. We truly don't just live for ourselves
3. Generally...Men quantify time, Women qualify time.
4. Jay's "love languages" are....
5. God has a great sense of humour :)

And if you didn't know yet, my band, along with Love Me Butch, is opening for SWITCHFOOT! Feb 02, 2008 (that's tomorrow!) at the KL Convention Centre, Hall 4. 6:30PM. It's going to be a blast! We've been practicing hard for this gig and we look forward to having a rockin' good time! Such an honor to be sharing the stage with one of the most inspiring bands in my life. I really look up to these guys!

This is a party like no other. An experience you will remember for a long time more to come. I am fully convinced you will never be the same again. There are people who are pouring out their spirits, souls, sweat, sleep, saliva (eh?) to make this happen. Of course, it's nothing compared to those who have gone before us who have poured out so much more from their lives to give us the 'freedom' we now enjoy. Yet many of us are not really 'free.' "Either you are all free or not free" as someone so rightly said. But there is One who has 'fought' for our Ultimate Freedom - the only 'freedom' that matters. The 'freedom of all freedoms,' so to speak. You'll need it. We all need it.

real power

Real power is unseen.

You can see the evidence of it - like when you switch on a lamp, and the light comes on. The light that comes on is the evidence or the expression of the power, but not the power itself.

Again, you can see the evidence of it, but you can't actually see it. Oh, but it's there.

The real power of a world-changer is also in the "unseen." The preaching, the miracles, the new songs, the restored lives, the healings...those are the evidences. The real power is in the "unseen" moments, on his knees, in communion with his Creator, Master, and Best Friend.

Men that changed the world.
Women that changed the world.
Bands that changed the world.

Who were they?

What did they have in common? What was the formula?

Did they know they were gonna change the world?
Did they set out saying...

"I'm gonna change the world."
"I'm gonna say or do something that will totally alter the way

we understand our world"
"I'm gonna write music that will ultimately define the future of music itself."

My guess is most of them didn't know they were gonna change the world - except, maybe, Jesus. I suspect they did not just wake up and decide one day and say, "I'm gonna change the world." "I wanna change the world," maybe - a lot of people say that.

Do you think you are a world-changer? You definitely can be - no doubt about that.

But, who knows?

Well, God does. Just keep believing. Keep at the "one thing" of life. One day, somebody's going to write about you.

One Thing

It was my turn to share something during devotion in our office this morning and I thought hard about what I should share (or was it suppose to be "pray hard?"). Then I thought about my life - where I've been, where I am right now, and where I'm going. Sometimes thoughts like these scares me because I am forced to think about the possibility that I could be living a big mistake, and end up in regret. Come on, be honest, haven't you thought the same before? No? Dang... I always knew I was the odd one out.

As I thought about my life, I realized that I've done quite a bit with it - as in I've done many, many things - and whether or not they were significant is another story. I tried evaluating where my life stands right now, and I do wonder if I'm doing too much with my life (only 2 "free" evenings this month) or if anything I am doing really do matter (so busy for what?).

Then I thought about the power of doing just "one thing." I thought if I could only summarize my entire life into just "one thing," I think I'd be able to really nail it. If I could only know what my one purpose is in life, I don't have to meddle in things that don't matter and live in fear of regret. Then I remembered Ps. Kenneth's message "What Have I Done with My Life," and realized he touched on a similar theme as the one in my head. Two possibilities came to my mind: either great minds do think alike, or I wasn't really listening to his message! I'd like to opt for the former. So yeah, the power of "one thing" really also means the power of "focus" and knowing your "purpose." They don't start with the same letter, but they do rhyme! (Hehe... ACTS internal joke)

So I went to the Bible - life's manual - and stumbled upon some gold nuggets. I won't share them all here - you gotta find your own nuggets - but I'll slip some of mine out. Mark 1:35-39 shows just how focused Jesus was and how He knew His "one thing." He's so focused He doesn't even answer His disciples' pressing question, and went straight into what He's called to do. Luke 18:18-22 tells about the rich young ruler who did a lot of things but still lack "one thing" - the one that really matters. In Luke 10:42, Jesus tells Martha about the "one thing" that is needed.

I realized that doing that "one thing" that matters in life may not necessarily mean that from now on, all of my life comes down to doing just one physical thing - like all I'm going to do with my life is record as many as albums and sell as many copies as possible (isn't that considered "two" things already?). Or all I need to do in my life is be a great husband - that's all, just one thing. But what would happen to being a great son, a great brother, a great friend, or a great father one day?

I found it in Ecclesiastes 12:13. It's always been there. I've heard it before. But to realize it now is as fresh as the morning dew. My "one thing" in life, and I pray yours too, will come from that scripture...

"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man's all."

"One thing" is that and all that it encompasses. "One thing" is both a daily journey and a lifelong journey. Enjoy!

Relentless

The recent Teenacity Camp 07 : Relentless was simply fantabulous! God was, is, and forever will be faithful and great! 222 campers were there in Ayer Keroh D'Village Resort, out of which 187 were teens! Awesome! That's not the only exciting thing but we discovered that there were at least 33 different schools represented in the camp! Wow! Ps. Chris Long did a fantastic job speaking at 4 sessions at the camp and every session was powerful! Not forgetting tummy-cramp-ful too... making us laugh at all his many jokes! I did 2 sessions at the camp, and I believe there were not too bad either! Praise God for the many lives that were touched and the many that gave their lives to Christ for the very first time!

I'm more passionate about lives - especially young lives - today more than ever before! God is definitely doing something really special among the young people today and I'm just hungry to see Him move. Nobody can do it like He can. Just watch out for Him, people... God's gonna do it like He does it and ain't nobody can do it like He can! The waves comin' and I don't intend to stand by the shore and just look. I'm getting my surfboard ready (no, I don't know how to surf in real life) and I'm gonna ride the wave when it comes, baby!

Haha... is this gonna be for real? I don't know.

I actually consider myself a "thinker," but I just don't have the discipline of penning down my thoughts. The thing is, though, it's been said before, "a short pencil is better than a long memory." I believe that to be true. So...here I go again...trying my best to drop in here as often as I can and leaving parts of my mind onto the pages of your screens...

Some updates first, perhaps?

1. My band, Altered Frequency, is STILL working on our 2nd album. We're getting closer to completing it. It'll soon see the light of day!

2. I'm now a Youth Pastor - and I'm lovin' it! Youth ministry is both challenging and fulfilling at the same time, especially when you're called to it. Challenges help you grow and enlarges your capacity. So, bring it on!

3. I'm getting married!

Those are some the major updates from my life, I guess. If you want details, I guess you'd just have to ask me personally - if you can :)

Been taking the teens in Teenacity through a series called "The Making of a Disciple." It's been a real blessing to me personally as I learn more and more what it means to be a Disciple, and not just any disciple, but a Disciple of Christ! Some stuff we've been learning ...

"One Day" Has Arrived

Yup, it has. I've finally decided to come out and say something. Anything. I've been cruel to my blog - everyone needs a little attention. Everyone needs someone - even my little blog. So, here's a little attention from me. And to anyone who cares to read... I'm back! (Don't know for how long, though).

Busy - that's been the story of my life for ... well, forever. It can be a good and/or bad thing. I'd like to see it as a good thing for now. I'd like to think that my busyness will reap something of value. And I think it is. Just looking at how some things have grown... you get a pretty good idea (though faint) that you might be doing something right.

If you want your plants to grow, you gotta give it attention. If you want love to grow, you gotta give it attention too. If you want people to grow, you gotta give them attention.

So many voices are calling out for our attention nowadays. You can't heed them all, 'cause not all of them are worthy of your attention. Not of all them are worth your time; not everyone is worth your time, really. I've learned that sometimes you have to say "no" to something or someone, so that you can "grow" something/someone else.

The word for the day is focus. Anything that you give attention to, grows. Yeah.

Anyway, my band is still working on our 2nd album. It's taking a long time. The last album, we did it all in 77 days - recording, mixing, mastering, printing, release. This time... hmmm... been more than 7 months already. But, it's a good thing. We're taking our time, because we "slow-cooking" it this time. Like making some good, nutritious, herbal soup. It takes time to make one of those, and it's taking time to make our 2nd album. But do watch out for it, cuz it'll be good. I think.

Meanwhile, we're releasing a DIGITALLY REMASTERED Exalt (Altered Frequency's 1st album)! It'll be sounding better, and we've added an additional bonus track - The Sun Will Shine Again. Don't miss this one either - add it to your CD collection!

Also, we're about ready for the AYA Festival, happening on Feb 2, 2006 at the Putra Indoor Stadium, Bukit Jalil! We'll be sharing the stage with UK Band Delirious?. It'll be our first time performing in a stadium. Am I nervous? Hmm... that's a secret.

Cobwebs

How long has it been? March 25 was my last post. Wow, long. Figured I should just say something-even if I don't have anything profound or deep to say. I guess I've just been busy. Busy at work, busy with life, busy being busy. But it's the fulfilling kind of busy. At the end of the day, you feel like you've accomplished something or accomplishing something.

I've been investing a lot of time into different things... mainly people (although people aren't exactly "things"). Invested time in my relationship with Jay, time with my Power Group guys, time with ACTS church and THINK online (check out the sites).

Sometimes (or rather, most times), we don't see the "returns" immediately. Sometimes it takes a long while. And many questions arise. You wonder if you're doing the right thing. You wonder if you're in the right place. You wonder, and wonder, and wonder. But all the God of Wonders asked me to do was, "Trust." Just trust. And so I do... I trust...

As I trust, I begin to see slowly but surely the fruits of my labor. Yet, it's not all there is yet. So far, it has just been a glimpse. But the glimpse itself was glorious enough. Makes me now wonder in awe what the full glory would be like...

It's Good Friday, and I've only got one thing to say, really, and that's Jesus loves you.

Cliche? Maybe. To a lot of you it may be. And if it is, beware that you might have taken the significance of Good Friday for granted. Don't worry, though--I'm not really here to preach. But, honestly, that's what I'd like to say to everyone out there: Jesus loves you.

It may be cliche to you, but...

...to the little boy who has never known his father...
...to the mother who saw her children swallowed by the waves...
...to the teenage girl who was brutally raped...
...to the prisoner who regretted pulling the trigger 20 years ago...
...to the nephew who was touched in places no uncle should have touched...
...to the beggar who has never walked or seen...
...to the woman who has nothing...
...to the man who lost everything...

...it's not cliche.

Somebody really does need to know that Jesus loves them.

No, not just in words although words are necessary sometimes. But be creative... touch, hug, sing, dance, befriend, give, help, lend, listen, etc...

I've been everywhere.

I was in Penang on Dec 26, 2004 when the waves came in. They were no ordinary waves, though. We all know the story by now. We've viewed the videos, we've seen the pictures, we've read the news. If anything at all, it was a very loud wake up call. Disaster and pain are respecters for none. No matter what color, creed, or conviction we are, we all go through difficulties in life. We may escape it now, it'll get us later. Tomorrow is not a guarantee. It may come, or we may go. Someone said this to me, "Dream like you'll live forever... live like you'll die today." If, somehow, we are to know when we will die... we would live life very differently. It changes our whole perspective. For those of us who have been spared by the mercy of God, and are kept alive... we've only got one life to live--how are we going to live it?

Wrote a song quite some time ago, performed it twice or thrice, but never recorded it or knew when to. But as I write right now, it's in the midst of being mixed and mastered to be included in a compilation album initiated by Oops Asia (find out more about the album from the website or the forum). Many years ago, I saw a vision in my time of prayer. I saw dark storm clouds covering the sky, and any light from the sun had been covered up by the mighty clouds, like a huge blanket over a lamp. The mood was dark and depressing. I remember feeling a sense of hopelessness and uncertainty. Then I began to reflect on the situations in my life and I identified with the picture I just saw. Every now and then, we go through storms in life. We go through situations where we feel helpless, confused, and our tomorrows are filled with so much uncertainty it chokes the life out of us. It would seem like all light has gone, because the storm has come with its clouds and rain, and the sun has been made to hide its once consuming and life-giving rays.

Then in my vision I began to see, after a while, it stopped raining, and the dark clouds beginning to part. And as they parted, the sky became brighter and brighter. Rays of light began to penetrate the clouds. Before long, the majestic sun came out in full glory, and illuminated the atmosphere. Light has returned. Hope… is alive!

I began to think about life and how we sometimes go through tough situations—like a storm that comes and floods your life with difficulties and problems. But although the storms are real and the pains are real, I realized the storm doesn’t last always. Even the darkest of storms will pass. The rain will stop. The flood will subside. The clouds will part. The storm will end. And the sun will shine again.

There is hope. There is always hope if we believe. And just because the clouds have come, doesn’t mean the sun has gone. It’s still there. The sun still shines. We just don’t see it because the clouds have blinded us. But we must know that it’s still there. It’s just a matter of time before we see the storm with its clouds give way. And the sun shines on our lives again.

That was inspiration for this song. I wrote it to remind myself, the precious people who will listen to it, to never give up in a tough situation, because there is always hope, and there is strength if we know where to find it. I found it not just

in the sun, but even more so in the One who made it.

So... SOME people actually do come by and read my blog. I don't even come back to my own blog often enough to realize that! Haha! Well, thanks to all of you who drop by, and those of you who post comments, and send me emails and friendster messages. It's actually quite fun to receive responses from people. I might actually end up liking this thing... hehe! For now, it's something I have to get used to.

For those who know Flatfish... we've been growing... the fishes have multipled.. haha.. we now have 10 projects on the board. Praise God for the favor. We just gotta make sure we have enough baskets to pick up the abundance of leftovers!

Missing in Action

I know... I've been missing in action for many weeks now. Not like I was missed much, cuz not many know about our blog anyway. I've trying to revive this habit, though. Not easy for a busy person like me. Speaking of busy, it's been hectic the past 3 weeks. From Tawau to KK to Singapore... AF has been busy touring. All extremely good trips, I must say. Reminds us, every time, why we do what we do. We don't exist for ourselves.

Our next outstation trip will be Alor Setar. That's in December. Meanwhile, we'll keep practicing and keep polishing our "act." Again, not for ourselves, but for the One who made all things, and for the people who come and listen to us share about Him.

Caramel Macchiato

Hey, I'm back! Got a little too busy and a little too lazy the past few days. We (AF) just finished a 'gig' in Inti College, Subang last night. I was totally maxed out. There was probably no more air left in my lungs by the time I finished the last song. But it was good. All glory to God...two souls were saved last night! We're heading to Ipoh tomorrow for two days of ministry. It's getting more busy and more exciting by the day!

I'm sitting here in Starbuck with my Caramel Macchiato...mmmm... the temperature in here is a little too warm for comfort, though. But they've got FREE wireless connection, so what can I say? Anyway, sitting here reminds me of next Wednesday's appearance on Latte@8. They've postponed it a few times now, so I'm a little paranoid that they might do it again. But I don't think so. This time I believe it's for real. So come on down and party with us on Wednesday - Sept 29th at Starbucks, Sunway Pyramid... 11:00pm :)

Oh no, I'm getting lazy already!

I'm already feeling lazy about posting up here... I almost didn't today, but then I remembered I have a blog and I wanted to see how I can keep this up. So here I am :)

I'm listening to my current "most favorite" worship song... Saturate by Olie Sebastian, found in Paradise Community Church's latest live recording Adore. Will probably be using this song when AF leads worship in Inti College, Subang's M5:16 concert on Sept 23, 2004. Y'all coming? :)

Going to support Juwita Suwito later... she'll be on Latte@8, so I'll be making my way to Starbucks, Sunway Pyramid when I'm done here at work. AF will be on the show Sept 29th. Hope they don't change their minds again!

Gee...not bad... I made it to the 2nd day. I didn't intend to post anything today, but I just found out Bryan Limus has his own blog too, and I was "inspired" to write my own entry today. It's been a long and hard day at work. I'm still here in the office at 1919hrs (this reminds me of a certain band member). Another band member is standing right behind me, packing his newly bought PS2 games into his bag. I'll probably be leaving the office soon. Got a practice to go to at 2100hrs (hahaha....). But first, dinner!!! David Gary wants to go the chunted nasi lemak stall in Southern Park, Klang... well, I don't mind....

I don't know why I'm doing this. Seems like blogging is the in-thing these days, and I'm being sucked into the "system!" Arghhh...societal pressure!!! To be honest, I don't even know if I'll be able to sustain this hobby... or habit... What's this called anyway? Anyway, we'll see. We'll see how long Andy can blog.
